Hopefully you were healthy, had employment, and had a good year. So do you make resolutions, or keep them? If you do, have you decided what resolutions you will make? Is there a vice you'd like to quit, or promise yourself a healthier diet, or excercise more often? No matter what the upcoming year brings I wish it to be health, prosperity, happiness, love, and humor.

Let me know what you think?

Happy New Year in advance!

Janice

Moonlight's Episode 10 - Sleeping Beauty was great. To know that Josef (Jason Dohring) had fallen in love with a mortal, and showed a more human side was fantastic. Not to mention that a hitman was after him, that was pretty cool. When Josef did the one liners, they were terrific, and when Mick got ticked off with Josef, that was great. Also, Coraline showing that she was still a vampire, well I think we all expected that to happen. Now she's disappeared. Do you think she's going to exact revenge on Beth? When Mick wanted Beth to go out on the town, NY style, she did the honorable thing, but damn, I would have gone, wouldn't you? Josh can be a little sanctimonious at times, which is pretty irritating.

I've seen the spoilers, but I can't wait for the other two episodes to air, which might be in February. Hopefully by then, this damn writers strike will be over, not likely, since the talks have gone south and too much finger pointing is going on. I just want my favorite show to start filming again, I'm sure we all do! Reality shows just don't do it for me.

Also, visit my other websites:

http://www.minkybod.net
http://www.freewebs.com/minkybod
http://www.myspace.com/minkybod

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season!

Let me know your comments.

Janice

Get back to the tables

Okay, I support many things, but right now the talks that ended this past Friday, has now become a sore point with me. Having an objective viewpoint is helpful, being on the outside, but what I can say is this is causing so much harm. Instead of finger pointing, or fighting see if you can pick one topic to discuss, make a friggin agenda and stick to it with only one topic and subtopics below it. Take it that way each day and perhaps a resolution will be reached a lot sooner. At the rate that the negotions have broken down between the two groups it'll be well into February or March before a resolution might possibly be reached.

In 1988 the last writer's strike was for 22 weeks. Now since the economical rates have increased since 1988, the costs will be quite significant, and I'm sorry to say there are other people that are going bankrupt, or losses of jobs. Also, if things are going to be all reality shows, well the possibility of DVD sales going up, as well as theatre tickets, but the networks are going to be the ones that suffer, not to mention actors, and everyone else.

I get to read the blogs, see everything on You Tube, read all the papers, and every other type of point of reference out there. I might get slammed for voicing my opinion, but someone needs to be the better person here. Having a march this past Sunday were other people that don't get paid, they might have to live pay period to pay period, yet the union workers get a residual while on strike. Now I realize that it took months of talks before the WGA went on strike, and I support their stance in many ways, but also for shows that haven't proven or may a couple of seasons to prove itself, is it possible that you can write into the contract over the next three years, or getting bonuses for a show, for instance like Desperate Housewives and other successful shows that those are padded with additional monies, and the newer shows until proven become a residual?

Things can be downloaded on ITunes, or Rhapsody, and various other places on the Internet. Let's face it the Internet was just getting started on the last writers strike, and it has boomed well beyond control, and we might as well face it, human nature we want to be entertained, we need it to release the stresses of our lives or the teduim of humdrum. By the time this is resolved, the necessary personnel needed to run the shows, might have to find jobs outside at least to survive, and where will the networks, the film, or even producers be without staff to support writers, or the behind scene technical people, lets face it without support people a company cannot run, too many chiefs and not enough indians as the old saying goes. I know,I know people will always need jobs, yet, will it be the right fit? Will the ones that are specialists in their necessary field be available? People come on think for one moment, who is getting screwed without the kiss first, the writers, the networks, the stylists, makeup artists, technicians, actors, everyone can lose in this situation and very soon. Has anyone thought of that? Or do you care?

The DVD's can be raised a dollar or two, I mean the taxes are being raised with inflation, and people still buy if it's good they spend the money, but they won't if they're out of work or fed up with the strike and both parties being in a peeing contest. Another thing there are plenty of writers out here that do not belong to the union, what if scabes are brought in, weren't they brought in back in 1988? Also, nothing against the canadians, but they're loving this, because it's not affecting them whatsoever, at least for the time being.

Internationally speaking it's going to be global, and what happens then? Now, between all the negotiations, or lack thereof, who gets the monies when it's all ironed out? Because each party has to have their legal departments review, revise, and amend, do we make the attorney's richer?

These are just my thoughts and humble opinions, which might not account for much in the big scheme of things, but again what if they do? And if someone wants to enlighten me please do so without slamming me. Perhaps I need to be further educated, which is something I always enjoy.

Janice

What with the writer's strike, which I firmly believe they are entitled to their share, what concerns me, is that everyone gets back to the tables, and get this ironed out, because it's killing the industry, not to mention people are losing their jobs, families are suffering, and I'm fearful that it might kill my favorite show! The last strike took four months to settle, and I'll go nuts at not having to see Alex each week, not to mention everyone else suffering.

I hope that there will be a huge outcry from the public to get this settled quickly so no one suffers long term. I saw that people are getting their pink slips, well that's outrageous! If I had my way, I'd smack these studios upside their heads and let them know what I see, and act as a mediator if necessary. Good grief, get back to the conferences Monday, bite the friggin bullet, and get this straightened out before it goes into a state of emergency. You have people that will lose their homes, not be able to eat, feed their families, not to mention bringing everything to a halt for everyone. The studios have enough money that they count as a loss, the big guys out there, take a pay cut if necessary, you're rich enough. Secretaries, technicians, writers, producers, cinematography, writers, actors, make-up artists, the list is ongoing...

I used to be an Office Administrator, Executive Assistant and I know what it is like to be laid off from a job because a company is losing profits, or going bankrupt, but Fox, CBS, ABC are not bankrupt... not sure about NBC especially how Conan talks -- lol! You also have actors, and other important people picketing as well, everyone is important! I'm not sure if the studio's recognize the people behind the scenes or not, but they damn site better, because nothing gets down without the people.... CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, USA, FX, want to lose a ton of money, keep screwing around and yes you the top dog will be out of work. If you blame the strike and the shut down on the writers, well you'll claim it as a loss on your taxes, and forget the other people, but you can't... I hope someone reads this, and recognizes the truth of what I'm saying or my ranting perhaps. Get off your butts, and settle quickly! It's not only the shows that we watch, but it affects every single person. It affects the economy, and the economy already sucks as it is, why add to it?

Janice

Alex O'Loughlin who stars in the CBS television show Friday evenings 9:00 p.m. EST, titled "Moonlight" is a highly talented actor! I've ordered his movies from Amazon.com at least those that I can get a hold of! I've seen "Feed" and "Invisible" his acting abilities whether he plays the good guy, or a villain are phenomenal! He is also going to be in the movie coming out in a couple of weeks "August Rush" and I'll be waiting in line for that. The trailers that I have seen are magnificent and it seems to be a very heartwarming movie.

My hubby says I'm crazed, though that might be true, at least I recognize talent when I see it. Of course being back in college, even though I'm an older student, I appreciate skills.

I also like to write (my minor is in English) therefore, I have started stories, like fan fiction....therefore, I have an outlet for my creative side. Of course, I'm studying Graphic Design/Illustration, Web Design/Development/Illustration, so yes, I'm a right brainer. Thankfully, my husband is a left brainer to keep me grounded.

So if you want to learn more about me, I suggest your view my profile. Anyway, back to Alex, he evokes so much charm, and that smile, OMG, I melt each time I see it! So on Friday evenings I'm glued to the T.V. watching Moonlight, keep up the good work Alex, you have won the hearts of the American women!

Janice
